Nylon Straps and Steel Choker Cables are standard equipment on all Gatwood cranes. These will cover most standard rigging needs for our customers.
Gatwood can provide additional rigging as needed for special situations.
Check with the manufacturers recommendations to determine if extra rigging is required – or call us to discuss the situation.
Spreader beams work to extend the lift point to the outside of loads. These are useful when the weight size or shape of the object may cause damage if the straps/cables are in contact with the upper edge of the item being lifted
They also help to balance large loads by supporting the item at two points.
Adjustable bars can adapt to different sized objects.
In this case dual spreaders were used to support the generator for the lift. The front side was eventually disconnected – transferring the weight to the rear – so the generator could be inserted into the trailer for mobile use.
Dual spreaders can be used to spread the lifting force evenly on larger objects to help prevent distortion of the object when the load is supported at the ends only.
They can be combined for exceptionally long objects.
Tag lines help to control and direct the placement of the load
allowing easy rotation of an object to match the mounting structure bolts
General Rigging safety The unusual requirements of this Mercury 7 display called for some creative rigging to prevent damage to the fragile enclosure. Dual spreader beams kept the straps from contacting the sides of the display.
We used different length straps to accommodate the strange shape and off-center weight of the capsule.
Once at main level, the front rigging could be disconnected and the display rolled into place.
The precast panel used roll blocks to self-adjust as the wall was raised.
Once in a vertical position, the wall could be rotated into place and secured.
This sign needed to be lifted from the bottom to prevent damage. It was too large to use spreader beams – so the item was rigged internally and lifted safely.
This boiler required an adjustable chain on the front to balance it as it was passed through the wall into the building.
