What We Need To Know

Size and accurate weight of object to be lifted

  • be sure to include rigging in the weight calculations.
  • remember “seasonal” weight such as snow, mud etc.

Accurate height of building that it must be placed onto

How far across the roof will the object go

Description of the area where the crane will set up

  • how close to the building can we set up the crane?
  • ground type – dirt, gravel, concrete etc…Can it safely support the outriggers?
  • Are there any underground structures like sewers, septic, pipes, vaults etc?
  • Are there overhead power lines or obstructions like trees etc?

Access to the area

  • Is it large enough for the crane to travel and set up?
  • Are there any underground utilities or tunnels that might be damaged by the weight of the crane?
  • Does the crane need to cross any sidewalks or patios that might be damaged by the weight?
  • Will special permits be required by the local communities to travel and/or work?

Will the item require any special rigging like spreader beams etc

  • info is usually provided by the manufacturer

Any unusual circumstances or situations that might impact the lift

Gatwood has the right size crane for your job!
